THIGH LIFT (THIGHPLASTY)
Thigh lift is a procedure in which loose skin of the thigh is tightened by removing excess skin and fat to give shape and better contour to thighs.
INDICATIONS
Indications for thigh lift are loose skin secondary to
- Weight loss
- Aging
- After liposuction
ANESTHESIA: usually performed under general anesthesia
COMPLICATIONS
- Bleeding
- Wound infection
- Wound dehiscence
- Stretched scar
- Fluid collection (seroma)
RECOVERY
Recovery usually takes three to four weeks with precaution in leg movements and limited activity. Dressing will be on wounds and will require regular change to achieve wound healing. You will be advised to wear elastic compression garments for four weeks. Hospital stay is usually for one night will follow up visits in outpatient department

1. What is the most common complication related to this procedure and how to avoid it?
Wound breakdown due to excessive stretch and inadequate hygiene is the most common complication related to this procedure which can be prevented by avoiding excessive stretch on wound, limiting movement of limb specially flexion and extension at knee and keeping regular hygiene of wound site.
2. What special care should I have to take in the postoperative period?
Scars of the thigh lift are in the area that is prone to stretch and needs frequent hygiene and strict wound care. You have to follow all precautions advised by the doctor in terms of wound care . still your doctor will counsel you about wound breakdown and infection
