Hand is one of the most important part of the body performing finest and complex tasks. Any injury to hand needs to be evaluated for the proper management. These could be simple or complex requiring either soft tissue reconstruction, bony reconstruction or both.
These commonly include injuries which can be managed easily and does not affects the functioning of hand for e.g.
1. Minor cuts/ lacerations
2. Sprains
3. Muscle Contusions
4. Bruising
If there are any cuts which are deep or require stitches, they need to be seen my doctor in Emergency Department. To reduce the pain and swelling, follow the RICE rule. Rest Ice application Compression & Elevation Along with-it painkillers are needed to subside pain.
Simple injuries resolve in a week’s time leaving no major hindrance with the proper functioning of hand. Hand therapy as advised by the doctor needs to be followed for the adequate function of hand.
1. Bleeding in case of cuts
2. Swelling
3. Pain and tenderness
4. Redness
5. Difficulty in movements of hand
Mostly can be dealt as an Out patient or in Day care with follow ups in clinics.
Outcome depends on the location and size of the fistula and status of surrounding tissues. Although most of the fistula closes after the surgery, some may recur and requires further surgery.
It usually takes less time than the original hypospadias repair and completes in less than an hour.
The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and as a day care procedure. Patient can go home the same day after recovery from anaesthesia.
The most common complication is recurrence of the defect. Others complications include infection, difficulty in urination and stricture formation
