A nipple reduction is a surgical procedure designed to alter the size, shape, and other characteristics of the nipple to give patients better symmetry and overall appearance of the nipples. There are two techniques used in nipple reductions: the wedge technique and the flap technique. The wedge involves cutting a wedge-shaped piece out of the nipple and attaching the sides together. The flap technique involves making an incision around the base of the nipple at the desired projection level, leaving a small portion attached. The excess tissue is removed and the flap is turned down to create a smaller nipple.
