PTOSIS
SYMPTOMS
Drooping of eyelids (one or both eyes). Can be since birth or in adulthood after any surgery / infection or trauma
DESCRIPTION OF THE DEFECTS
It can be mild . moderate or severe forms
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCEDURE
Most of the times needs surgical correction
Mild form🡺 tightening of muscles of eyelid
Severe Form🡺 needs Frontalis sling surgery. It is done by using a tendon from the thigh / forearm or any prosthetic material as a sling to connect eyelid muscles with forehead muscles. So the eyelids move with the movement of the eyebrow.
EXPECTED COMPLICATIONS
Under or over correction (can be corrected easily)
EXPECTED OUTCOME
90 – 95% cases recover smoothly
In 5 – 10 % some corrections are required

1 to 2 hours

Day care OR 1-2 days as in patient
